Tabernacle Prayer

The Tabernacle Prayer Guide is a great resource and model to use for personal and corporate prayer gatherings.

The Gate

There is only one way to enter into the Tabernacle and there is a way to enter into prayer. This is a powerful way to start your prayer, with thanksgiving, praise and bless His name.

Psalm 100:4 – Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

The Brazen Altar

The altar is a place of sacrifice. It is the place of shedding of blood. This represents the cross of Jesus Christ, where He paid the ultimate sacrifice for sin. We must all come by the cross. Repentance happens at the cross. We must remember the sacrifice He made for our redemption and the blessing that it has brought to our lives. The Brazen Altar (the Cross) is a place of provision.

Hebrews 9:22 – And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

Psalm 103:1-5 – Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. 2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; whohealeth all thy diseases;4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.

The Laver of Water

The Laver was a place of cleansing and reflection. It is a place of seeing myself through the reflection of God’s word and asking for mercy and help. At the laver, we recognize our need for purification and our declare our desire to be like Jesus. To be like Jesus.

  • Purify my mind – Keep the mind on things that are above Philippians4:8

  • Purify my ears – Let my ears hear your voice, Lord.

  • Purify my eyes – Keep my eyes from evil

  • Purify my mouth - Keep my mouth from speaking evil

  • Purify my hands – Teach my hands to do your work and not be involved with evil

  • Purify my feet – Keep from going to wrong places but let me go proclaiming your gospel

  • Purify my heart – Let my heart not be filled with evil motives and decisions

  • Create in me – Lord teach me to be like you; to reproduce the fruit of your spirit

The Lamp Stand

Once we have passed through the gate of praise, spent time at the altar of sacrifice and washed at the laver of cleansing we are ready to enter behind the first veil into the tent of blessing.

The Lampstand represents the Spirit of God. We need to ask God to bless us with the Gifts of His Spirit. When we receive the Holy Ghost we are filled with God’s Spirit and we must learn to walk in the Spirit. We need to pray in the Spirit.

Isaiah 11:2 – And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;

I Corinthians 14:1 – Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.

II Timothy 1:6 – Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

The Table of Shewbread

This represents the Word of God. We must allow God to speak to us through His Word. God will never speak anything to you that is against His Word. We need to get a word for the day and claim the promises of His Word. Most prayer is a one-way conversation, we must listen to God. God will give us revelations, ideas, and truths.

Joshua 1:8 - This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Hebrews 4:16 - Let us, therefore, come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain

mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Proverbs 18:10 - The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

Read – You must take time to read the Word of God

Study – Get into the Word, go deeper, seek understanding of God is speaking and doing.

Verbalize – Memorize the word so you can speak it and know it.

Perform – Now you must go do what the word has declared. The Altar of Incense

The altar of incense was lit by the coals from the brazen altar. Blood paid for the fire to bring us into covenant with God. Incense always represents worship. This is intimacy with God. Learning and knowing God.

Jehovah-Tsidkenu – Righteousness – He cleanses me
Jehovah-Mekoddishkem – Sanctifier – He calls me and sets me a part Jehovah-Rapha – Healer – He heals me
Jehovah-Raah – Shepherd – He leads Me
Jehovah-Jirah – Provider – He supplies all my needs
Jehovah-Nissi – Banner of Victory – He has defeated my enemy Jehovah-Shalom – Peace – He is my peace in every storm
Jehovah-Shammah – There – He is there, He is with me.
Elohim – The Great Creator – He has all power
Adonai – My Lord and Master – I belong to God, My ownership is His
El Elyon – The Most High God – He is above all and has the resources for my life El Shaddai – The Almighty God – He is able to do the impossible

Two things in scripture come before God as incense: 1. Prayer & Praise - 2. Giving

What we give to God is worship, our time, talents, and treasure. God will be pleased when we give the sacrifice of our lips, when we do good, and when we share what we have with others. God responds to worship and giving.

Hebrews 13:15-16 - By him, therefore, let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.16 But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

Acts 10:4 - And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

The Ark of the Covenant – The Holiest of Holies

Behind the second veil is the holiest of holies. This is where intercession is made. This is the place of the mercy seat where God’s presence dwells.

Romans 8:26-28 - 26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

I Timothy 2:1-3 - I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
